On August 28, the JTA Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. hosted its highly anticipated Annual Awards Luncheon, honoring students, scholars, and schools for their exceptional achievements and commitment to education. The awards ceremony, was held at the Terra Nova Hotel and it brought together educators, parents, students, and Credit Union members. 

The event recognized three distinct groups of honorees:

• PEP Bursary Recipients: Students who excelled in the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) examinations.

• Tertiary Scholars: Credit Union members who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance at the tertiary level.

• Two Distinguished Schools: Eltham Park Primary and Greater Portmore Primary, winners of the Credit Union’s Better Schools…Better Jamaica programme.

In his overview of the awards General Manager of the Credit Union Mr. Robert Ramsay highlighted the significance of the awards as a reflection of the Credit Union’s core values of empowerment, education, and community building.

“These awards are more than plaques and certificates. They are symbols of opportunity. They represent the belief that, when we invest in education, we are building stronger families, stronger communities, and ultimately, a stronger nation,” said Mr. Ramsay.

The Guest Speaker Jermaine Johnson roused the audience with his message, he used the opportunity to remind the audience specifically the awardees to use the support they are receiving wisely and to become reapers. That is planting their seeds today and patiently waiting for the benefits it will surely bring in the future. 

The luncheon celebrated not only the achievements of individual students and members but also the commitment of schools and communities that continue to shape Jamaica’s future leaders. Through the Better Schools, Better Jamaica programme. This year two schools were awarded Greater Portmore Primary and Eltham Park Primary. The JTA Credit Union is confident that these two schools will, through their respective projects make their students that much better. The JTA Credit Union continues to demonstrate its mission to support education, empower families, and foster sustainable growth for its members.
